This Cardiovascular Intensive Care Training Course is a trans-societal activity with the objective to promote training in Cardiac Intensive Care. This is a two day activity combining both a series of core lectures and hands-on activities focused on Cardiac Intensive Care.

  • To review physiologic concepts related to cardiovascular intensive care.
  • To reinforce training in point of care ultrasonography.
  • To reinforce training mechanical circulatory support.
  • To reinforce training postoperative arrhythmias.
  • To reinforce training in hemodynamic and catheterization data interpretation.


  1. Basic physiology and monitoring.
  2. Cardiopulmonary interactions.
  3. Postoperative arrhythmias.
  4. Ultrasound in the CICU.
  5. Neonatal echocardiography.
  6. Echocardiography in MCC patients.
  7. Looking outside the heart.
  8. Challenging EKGs.
  9. Hands-on (4 sub-groups)
  10. Cath Data (A) / MCS (B)
  11. Simulation (C) / POCUS (D)
  12. Cath data interpretation.
  13. Single ventricle physiology and management.
  14. Surgical Techniques.
  15. Challenging cases.
  16. Principles of ECMO.
  17. Mechanical Circulatory Support.
