Pediatric movement disorders series: childhood-onset Parkinsonism

Inscripciones cerradas

Pediatric movement disorders are a constantly changing field of pediatric neurology that requires us to stay current. Many of the children affected by movement disorders suffer from a rare disease, which causes them to receive a late diagnosis due to the unawareness of these disorders.

Childhood-onset parkinsonism can be caused by acquired or genetic variants and is an extremely rare condition, in contrast to Parkinson's disease (PD), which is one of the most common neurologic disorders in adults. Due to a lack of agreement on clinical criteria, the clinical characterization of parkinsonism during the early stages of neuromotor development is complex. This webinar will cover the phenomenology, genetic and acquired etiologies of childhood-onset parkinsonism, treatment, as well as new lines of research for these disorders.
