PID GAMES (Paediatric Infectious Diseases Games) are a new interactive educational event that will expand your knowledge in the field of paediatric infectious diseases.

The PID GAMES is a three-day course consisting of four modules on different exciting topics (e.g. bacteria and antibiotics, virus and vaccines, emergent infections and infections occurring in the immunocompromised host).

Each module consists of lectures by experts from around the world, clinical cases, a pro/con debate and a real competition Quiz between the participants. The winner of these games wins a free registration to the next PID Games or the next ESPID annual meeting.

Contenidos

✓  Antibiotics and bacterial infections.

  • Master lesson: MDR bacterial infections in children. 
  • Debate: pro- (and against) calcitonin.
  • Clinical cases: central Line-associated Bloodstream Infections.
  • PID Games Quiz: antibiotics and antibiogram quiz.

  • Master lesson: SCORTCH: rethinking the traditional ‘TORCH’. 
  • Debate: BCG vaccination in low TB endemic countries - to do or not to do?
  • Clinical cases: sexual transmitted infections.

  ✓  Emergent, re-emergent and parasitic infections.

  • Clinical cases: it’s not always TB.
  • Debate: colonization or pathogen? The era of GI molecular panels in paediatric patients with diarrhoea.
  • Master lesson: Malaria: present and future of personalized diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.
  • PID Games Quiz: rash and skin lesions.

  • Clinical cases: when to suspect inborn errors of immunity?

Metodología

  • This meeting will be face-to-face.
  • Through the discussion of a complex clinical case by a multidisciplinary team of experts, attendees will have the opportunity to interact, exchange knowledge and enrich their experience in clinical practice.
  • The methodology of this course integrates various interactive formats, including the game-based learning platform Kahoot! tools. Through a blend of master lessons, clinical case presentations, debates, and quizzes, participants will explore the intricacies of pediatric infectious diseases, from antibiotic resistance to vaccination strategies and beyond, fostering active participation and knowledge retention.
